      Software Research Engineer Interview

      18 Feb 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Eden Prairie, MN
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

The process took 3 months. I interviewed at 3M (Eden Prairie, MN)

      Interview

What a terrible interview process. Round 1 was a phone interview with the company recruiter, that went well and we scheduled a take home programming test for coding competency. We scheduled the in home test, which was 2 questions with 4 hours of allotted time.(test could be taken on my own time). I took the test and submitted it, and I reached out to the recruiter for the next steps. I did not hear back from the recruiter for 2 months! They told me it was because the test doesn’t get added to the backlog automatically, so it got lost in the mix and no one took a look at it. They then scrambled and scheduled the next interview which was partner coding exercise where you are expected to code while someone from the company is watching. While you are coding you are explaining why you are implementing in such a way. After the interview I submitted code to the person conducting the interview. Again, I waited another week for any kind of answer( a simple yes or no) , I got fed up and decided to stop the interview process on my end and looked elsewhere where they value your time and effort. Such a waste of my time, what a pity, literally went through 5 hours of coding for no reason.
