      Senior Analyst Interview

      Anonymous interview candidate
      Louisville, CO
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at AES Corporation (Louisville, CO)

      Interview

1st round was an HR screen, 2nd round behavioral, 3rd round Excel exercise, 4th round where you present your findings. Was told I was a great candidate and received a verbal offer within hours/days of the last interview. When I tried to negotiate a relatively small proportion of the salary (<5%) and asked questions to better understand the in-office attendance requirement, the offer was rescinded, and it took a week for them to decide where nothing was communicated. Based on years of experience at good and bad companies, this is reckless management of candidates, and it seemed like the positions expectations were rather unclear. They could have easily said "sorry, we can't do __, but we'd still love to have you if you are still good with __". Instead, they made strange assumptions about me that were wildly inaccurate. I was told only after the offer was rescinded that the position is typically not negotiated for salary, which is odd to hear when I had negotiated within their posted range and since negotiations are a standard practice for every company. This experience may have been team dependent, but this is a warning to prospective candidates about how this company operated and communicated at the offer stage.
