I applied online. I interviewed at AESOP CLUB English School
Interview
The interview was pleasant and I was led to believe they care for teachers well being. However, it was not explained the reality of the actual position.
The job advert is a few morning lessons a month and evening lessons 5:00 - 8:00. However, the actual job was 80% of the month
was morning lessons and evening lessons were 5:00 -9:00
at different locations.
Some of the schools were 90 mins away from each other.
The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at AESOP CLUB English School (Lake Charles, LA) in Aug 2017
Interview
I was asked about my educational background and job experience. Also was thoroughly checked for any issues in my background that would be negative for a teacher. Sent for fingerprinting and had to fill out several forms. Biggest issue was the fact it was a several step process, but the office personnel giving instructions would only tell you about one thing at a time. Made you feel as if you were a child & having secrets kept from you. Also pay is better if you have a college degree, but it’s still not great! A lot of other subs I met did it for extra income or to be closer to their children.
I applied in-person. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at AESOP CLUB English School (Kawachi-Nagano)
Interview
Very formal, Japanese style interview. Punctuality, friendly, but not overly eager, and knowing the does and don'ts of what is appropriate in Japanese interview-culture. Overall was not overly difficult, but one should know the proper procedures well before going to a Japanese interview (dress, greetings, posture, eye contact, assertiveness, etc).
