      EMT-Basic Interview

      21 Aug 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Pompano Beach, FL
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at AMR (Pompano Beach, FL) in Jul 2016

      Interview

I submitted my application online and received an email within two weeks. During my interview, I was asked several basic questions (listed below) in a one on on setting with one interviewer. Following the interview, I was scheduled to take the physical assessment test (PAT). During this time, we performed basic exercises such as unloading a weighted stretcher from the back of an ambulance, lifting a portable EKG device and weighted medical bag out from a stationary vehicle, going up and down stairs with weights (forwards and backwards), deadlifting a weighted backboard, and performing CPR without stopping for 2 or 3 minutes. Afterwards, we were sent to Quest Diagnostics for a drug screening and underwent a background check. When I passed, I was invited to a week long PAID orientation session and told I had the job. Orientation consisted of many presentations at the Broward site, where we were introduced to the staff, and listened to lectures. We practiced utilizing a manual stretcher many times, writing reports on the tough books, and attended an Emergency Vehicle Operators Course in Miami. Upon completion, we were given 3 PAID ride alongs with a field training officer (FTO), where we were graded and critiqued on our performance. Once that was all done, we began working on our own with a partner. Overall, my experience was very good. My interviewer was friendly and welcoming, and during orientation we met a variety of characters that were great speakers, experienced from working within the company, and were very friendly. My FTO's taught me a lot during my ride alongs as well.
