I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at ARRISE in Jan 2025
Interview
The technical interview was disappointing and poorly structured. Questions focused on exotic edge cases rather than practical frontend development skills. The interviewer seemed fixated on unconventional solutions to basic problems like gradient animations and game development, dismissing standard industry approaches without explanation. Time was spent on theoretical scenarios that rarely occur in real-world development. The interview style felt more like a trivia contest than an assessment of actual development capabilities. Most concerningly, the interviewer frequently argued against well-established development practices and insisted on questionable solutions, forcing me to debate basic technical concepts that are widely accepted in the industry. Having to defend standard approaches like requestAnimationFrame and CSS keyframes was particularly surprising and unprofessional. The decision-making process appeared highly emotional rather than objective, as I received a rejection within hours after defending industry-standard practices with technical arguments. This rapid response suggests that technical expertise and knowledge of modern development practices might have been less valued than agreement with the interviewer's unconventional approaches
