      Business Leader Graduate Programmer Interview

      8 Jul 2015
      Anonymous employee
      London, England
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at AXA (London, England) in Mar 2015

      Interview

I went through several stages before being offered the job first was an online questionnaire followed by psychometric tests then a short video interview and lastly an assessment centre. The assessment centre consisted of four parts, two role plays, one business case study and an interview. The atmosphere was very friendly and relaxed, when we first arrived we were introduced to the assessors and the group of 10 was split into two groups of five. The first activity my group did after a brief presentation from Axa, was a business case study. In the case study we had to choose a broker we thought most appropriate for the insurance company described in the case study. We had a short amount of time to read the case study and write out some notes before being taken to a room with an assessor where we discussed our choice. After the case study we had a role play involving an employee that is having trouble integrating into a team, again we had 15 minutes to prepare before carrying out the role play with an existing Axa graduate in front of an assessor. We then had a break and had lunch, all assessors, some existing graduates and key HR members had lunch with us so it's important to be sociable and stand out, don't keep within the group of candidates go talk to the assessors. The third activity we did was the interview, this consisted of several competency based questions as well as a few industry specific questions (be creative with these). The assessors understand that some people need time to think of interview answers so don't panic if you can't think of anything straight away, you can ask to move on and go back to it at the end, or even ask for a minute to think about the question. The final activity of the day was another role play, this involve organising the timings of a project and during the role play information was changed half way through to test how you think on your feet. The assessors do their best to make you feel relaxed and comfortable and all employees involved were very friendly.
