I applied online. I interviewed at Academic Approach in Oct 2024
Interview
First, you must complete a sample test that contains both math and reading questions. If you get a good score, they will ask for an initial video interview. Finally, you must present a 5-6 minute Mini-Lesson.
Then you can go through their training program before teaching.
I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Academic Approach (Chicago, IL) in Jun 2025
Interview
Prior to the first round you have to take a skills assessment. It wasn't particularly hard and takes about an hour.
Interviewer was 5 minutes late while I was being graded on timeliness by their rubric. The 1st round of the interview was solely to gauge whether or not you would be a good fit for their workplace culture, a little weird for a <10hr/week job with no upward mobility.
If you make it through the first round they will ask you to do a mock lesson for the second round.
The interview process was not particularly rigorous. It required a practice lesson which was not especially challenging but a great way to get to know the job. Overall, the environment was very friendly, and they gave good feedback regarding the practice lesson.
