Standard process for this type of role. Expect to be offered a case study.
The negative experience comes with the way the recruiting manager/hiring manager handle case study reviews.
After completing the assignment (unpaid), you submit you work and wait for them to decide if they are interested in hearing you present your work. So be aware that they can (and did in my case) say "thank but no thanks" and not provide you the ability to actually present and provide context to the case study work you did (with no feedback provided to the candidate). Compared to all of the other interviews I have gone through that involved case studies, this is the outlier in process and, in my opinion, very unprofessional towards candidates who choose to take multiple unpaid hours to complete a case study.
Interviewers outside of the case study were nice, albeit a few had clearly not prepared for the interview on their end.
