I received a cold call from a local account manager who was looking for someone who may be interested in a career in contract recruitment. Evidently she had found my resume online. She was doing her own outreach, as her regional internal recruiter was on leave. I was already reliably employed at the time, but reached out to her near the end of my time in my current job and saw great alignment with the job and my previous experience.
The initial phone screen and first interview went very well. My interviewer, who would also have been my supervisor, indicated that she would want to go out for dinner and a drink to discuss next steps, and would be in touch. Then, she called me and said she received push back, because this wasn't Aerotek's "process".
So, through Aerotek's 'process' I went. In total, I interviewed with the account manager over the phone, a second time in person, my references were all checked. Then, I was asked to interview with an internal recruiter in Rochester, NY via Skype, then an interview with the regional account manager in Farmington, CT. After four interviews, the process dropped off the face of the earth and I never heard back from Aerotek.
Taking the initiative to follow up myself, I was told that they had given the position to someone with "more experience". Meanwhile, I was told repeatedly through the interview process that Aerotek seeks individuals with lesser experience so they can "teach them the Aerotek way".
Aerotek, the leader in recruitment, can't seem to fill this position. It's always advertised. Don't let them fool you into thinking it's due to growth. They just can't get their act together.
