I got a call from an individual in HR around 11am asking that I come onsite same day for an interview at 2pm. Short notice but I was fine shuffling my schedule to make it.
I get there and ask to use the restroom. As I'm in the restroom I overhear another individual in HR complaining that I came in early. I later find out the person who scheduled my onsite interview did not communicate with anyone else regarding what position I was coming in to interview for or what time....
I interviewed with some high level people and they were rushed but friendly.
I was asked to provide some code samples and a technical assessment project which I feel is pretty standard. I was also asked to take a few aptitude tests which I found silly but did anyways.
They then requested that I take an IQ test.....this I found insulting and unprofessional. So I emailed HR and I CC'd the hiring manager I interviewed with asking what the business value is and how specifically does an IQ test relate at all to ability or performance. I doubt I'll get a response but even if I do, I'm passing on submitting the code samples and the assessment. Not a cultural match for me. I can see MAYBE an IQ test being optional, but even thats a stretch. I refuse to be required to take an IQ test to be considered for this position.
These people arent curing cancer or putting humans in space. The fact that they require an IQ test signals inflated ego(s) in my humble opinion.
