The process was very fast. Once I passed an initial screening with an outside recruiter, I had an initial round of interviews on a Tuesday, was asked back for a second round the following Tuesday and had an offer by the end of that week. I first did a screening interview via video conference with an outside recruiter. The interviews consisted of consecutive 1:1 interviews, about 4 in each round. Interviewers were the decision makers and potential peers. No potential direct reports were brought in. Unlike other similar positions I had interviewed for at other companies, this interview process with Allstate required no meetings with an industrial psychologist or personality/intelligence tests. Once I interviewed with the hiring managers, I met the senior executive I would be working with for fit and chemistry. Allstate used a behavior-based interviewing approach, in which the candidate is asked how he or she addressed specific situations, challenges or opportunities. I use the same approach myself for interviews, so I was well-prepared.
