I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at AltaVista Strategic Partners (Baltimore, MD) in Apr 2023
Interview
After sending my resume to apply for the Database Account Manager position, I was contacted fairly quickly by Alta Vista’s Director of HR, Emma, to set up a phone interview. The interview was to get to know me and why I was interested in the position. I’ve participated in multiple interviews previously, and this interview felt very comfortable. I felt like I was having a conversation where I could speak freely and bounce off thoughts, answers, and ideas in response to questions. Emma wanted to know a lot about me as a person and my current career, which was unique and made me feel like she wanted to learn about me as an individual. Email communication was extremely clear, quick, and concise. I never felt as if I was waiting too long to hear back about a follow up or next interview. They were very professional, kind, and clear with their communication. I went through 3 rounds of interviews- one phone and two in person. All of which were extremely comfortable and conversational (as opposed to strictly Q&A). The interviews were spaced out appropriately time-wise and they worked with my schedule. They would answer any and all questions I had to make me feel comfortable. It is evident that the people at Alta Vista truly care about their employees and prospective employees and made sure of that through the whole interview process. I felt I wanted to be a part of their team based on how comfortable I felt throughout the process, which speaks volumes because I have typically only felt nervous during previous interviews.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What skills do you acquire now that you think would make you a good asset for our database marketing team? Why are you leaving your current role? What inspired you to choose Alta Vista? What are three things you love about your current job? (Follow-up: do those apply to Alta Vista or are those things you will be giving up? Are you willing to give those up and do you have any hesitations?) Why do you think you’ll be a good fit at Alta Vista?
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at AltaVista Strategic Partners (Baltimore, MD) in Apr 2025
Interview
The interview process consisted of various questions that are usually asked during job interviews. There were three interviews in total. The first interview begins as a 20-minute screening phone call with your typical questions about your strengths, weaknesses, and motivations. After you fit their description, you will be approved for the second interview in the building. You walk to the building where they will buzz you in. Afterwards, you will take the elevator to their floor number which they will tell you beforehand. You will then be greeted by the recruited/HR professional who will walk you to the conference room. Afterwards, they will ask a series of questions that other recruiters will ask such as, "why did you leave your last employer" or "why should we hire you" and even "what did you do at your last job?"
