I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon Web Services (Austin, TX) in Jul 2024
Interview
Applied online at the end of June. It is for the Specialist SA role. Received response from recruiter the following week. She sent me an OA assessment, once I cleared it she set me up for a phone screen.
The phone screen was with an AWS SA Leader and 1 Specialist SA shadowing. They grilled on the speciality area in depth. Received rejection in few hours. The recruiter was pretty communicative. I wish all AWS recruiters are like her. I'll prepare more and give another try few months later. Don't apply to the Specialist SA roles till you have mastered that specific area required for the role.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Mostly scenario based questions. It started with "What was the most recent project/task you did with this certain tool" and then they probed deep into my responses.

Interview
Several initial screens by recruiters validating my experience and resume.
Then a circuit of 5 interviewers in the same day lasting over 5 hours. When I was done I was offered a different job from the one for which I had interviewed.

Interview
The Amazon loop is an unusual process that is exhausting. It involves meeting a series of interviewers over a day, each of which has a different perspective. Mine was all remote, performed from the comfort of my home whilst the interviewers were largely US based.
I interviewed at Amazon Web Services (Auckland, Auckland)
Interview
Started with a phone screen with the hiring manager, moved into a technical interview (~20 questions) and finally 5 1:1 on site interviews. Outcome on the whole process via phone call a few weeks after the last interview.
