Interview was polite and professional; interviewer seemed thoughtful and sincere.
One major turn-off, however, was a less-than-honest approach to salary discussion. No salary range was disclosed beforehand; when I asked, I was told DOE (depends on experience). But during the interview, I was asked my current salary. Immediately thereafter, interviewer declared "that is about what we'd be offering."
Really? A minute ago there was no range; now that you know my current salary, that's the range? At best, the organization wasted my time; at worst, it was a dishonest sleight of hand.
I was told that I was "toward the front of the pack" in terms of desirability but I let them know in my follow-up e-mail that I was not interested in a lateral pay move, and that was the end of that.
