      Support Engineer Interview

      17 Aug 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Anchore (London, England) in Jul 2020

      Interview

I was contacted by a recruiter via Linkedin describing the role, I don't usually follow up on recruiter messages but this felt like the role and company was very well suited to me (showing that solid research had been done). It was especially attractive as it was a good opportunity to join a burgeoning startup who were rapidly expanding into a new region. After an initial chat with the recruiter, I had a number of 1:1 conversations with members of the team I would be joining, the VP of Customer Success (hiring manager), and the VP of Sales (as the job would also involve doing some pre-sales work in the new region). Every single person I spoke to was extremely friendly and I used the word 'conversations' as they didn't really feel like interviews at all. While there was some level of technical questioning, this was more focussed around informed discussions about the technologies I've worked with/haven't worked with, rather than tickbox "Can you tell me what function X does?" exercises. Ultimately I did not accept the offer at Anchore, but this was purely due to personal circumstances and timing with my current company, rather than anything to do with my interview experience. From the interview process, I truly believe that Anchore would be a very fulfilling place to work. Even during these conversations to discuss about whether I would accept the offer, I got the overwhelming impression that everybody genuinely cared for what's best for me and gave heartfelt advice, rather than just trying to sway my opinion. It's clear that Anchore have an incredible set of people and I wish them all the best for the future.
