I applied for a marketing-related position and was contacted a few days later via an unexpected phone call early in the morning. There was no prior notice or scheduling, and the person on the call immediately asked if I could do a screening session on the spot.
Since I was commuting and had back-to-back meetings that day, I politely asked how long the call would take and whether it would involve technical questions. I was told it would take 20–30 minutes and cover technical aspects, so I requested to reschedule to the next day when I could be in a better environment for a proper discussion.
Unfortunately, the tone of the call immediately shifted. The caller responded quite rudely, questioning why I didn’t have time for a 30-minute call, despite it being unplanned and more than a basic screening. The call ended abruptly, and I never received any follow-up.
What’s more telling is that even after a month, the same position has been reposted — which makes me question their internal hiring process. Based on my experience, both as a candidate and as someone familiar with the brand, there seem to be ongoing communication and management issues.
Candidates deserve a more respectful and organized hiring experience. I hope the company reconsiders how they approach potential hires in the future.
