      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      21 Jul 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at AppDynamics (San Francisco, CA) in Jul 2015

      Interview

Had a very easy phone interview. The interview feedback was very positive and transparent and I really appreciated it.Their onsite interview however was not transparent. The initial interview delved into the inner workings of JVM . I came up with a working solution and the interviewer seemed satisfied.Second and third interview question were similarly very simple.I didn't take much time to solve them. One of my interviewers was sick and was unfocused during most of the interview.I was waiting for my 4th interviewer to come in,but instead the recruiter comes and says I can leave as they have decided not to pursue this further.I was shocked at the turn of events as I felt the interviews were going very well.In fact there were very few followup questions to my solutions and I was able to answer whatever questions were posed to me. I refuse to believe that an interviewer doesn't have 45 minutes to come and interview me when I have to fly in and take leave from work and waste a day on this.

We apologize that you had a negative interviewing experience. We're committed to finding the best fit for our job openings, but also for our culture as well. While you may have provided a response to every question, our panel of interviewers make the judgement of whether or not you gave the most relevant answer for our company, and we also take into high consideration to see if you are well-suited for our existing engineering team. Thank you for taking the time to interview with us. I hope you do not take this personally, and good luck with your job search!
