The whole process was sloppy and unprofessional. I was originally contacted by their in house recruiter. After arranging for an initial chat they missed the call only to contact me later with an excuse that it didn't save correctly to the calendar. Bad impressions already. So we arranged another call which did occur on time. The next stage was the phone interview with the platform engineering manager. He called late with the excuse that he couldn't find a meeting room due to refurbishments (again bad sign). He asked me to tell him about myself and my current role. I barely told him anything and he cut me short when I told him that I was a DevOps engineer on my current team - extremely rude/aggressive and unprofessional, he had a problem with the statement that someone should say that they're a DevOps engineer. Whilst I agreed with some of points there were many other ways he could have approached this - simply asking what I thought DevOps was or if it was even a role would have sufficed. At this point I had already decided I had no interest in working for this company. I think he realised this too as I was rather disengaged with the rest of the call and I was clearly annoyed when he interrupted me. He spent the rest of the phone call talking about how great his team was, he basically knew nothing about my skills/experience. To summarise it was an unpleasant phone call.,this apparent manager showed arrogance and a lack of respect. He also talked over me at various points of the conversation. Imagine having to work for him. I got a message from their internal recruiter later to say that they had decided not to proceed with no feedback. Despite this though I did glean some information that would hopefully help others - Despite what is listed on the job specification some of it is only used in certain parts of the business but from the sound of it you'll probably have no exposure so be very careful if you're thinking of applying to work with specific technologies. I I would say don't bother wasting your time.
