Long, six hours of interviews.
Poor follow-up from HR to see if the candidate is comfortable throughout the day. The interview room became warmer as the day progressed. I wanted to get a feel for the culture (service to others, empathy, etc.) and I deliberately said nothing to see if anyone noticed - and I was disappointed in the end.
The folks who interviewed seemed to perceive the process as a one way exchange of information and that candidates can't pick up on subtle clues and cross reference them with questions as the interview day progresses. They were all very absorbed with only their needs - strike 2.
In one particular conversation with a senior member of upper management, I threw out a seemingly harmless soundbite related to common humor - to test the true color of their soul - and to my surprise they took the bait, the hook and chimed in with laughter.
... unfortunately, I did not find the topic funny - strike 3.
As interesting as the opportunity was I ended up saying no thanks.
