      Director Interview

      16 Oct 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Avanade

      Interview

The most bizarre experience yet. After many recruiting attempts from Avanade I take an interview. Like other reviews on this site; the recruiter immediately begins bashing my current employer and actually told me "just so you know you will never be in a senior level position at that company as a white american male". Wow. Nothing like discrimination right out of the gate. After reading about Avanade, I decide to interview and find out what is going on and if they truly want to grow a consulting business. The second discussion, I am told that Avanade is heavy on leadership to the point of over hiring at the D+ level. Sweet, more good news. I send an email saying I am not interested in continuing the interview because I don't want to work for a company that is top heavy. No thanks. They respond with a phone interview invite. This was all my fault I should stopped right here. I took the phone interview and to summarize a very nasty situation; I would never work for this company due to ethical and organizational reasons. Each interviewer said that unless you are on a project and billable you will be made to feel like your job is at risk. The way I was treated as a candidate was inexcusable in my opinion. The recruiters and HR were falling over each other; like other reviewers mentioned. I was told on five separate occasions throughout a two month period (after interviewing) that my offer was coming any minute - it is "pending some final signatures". Well after doing some research on my own I am confident in what this company is doing. They are claiming they want to grow a consulting practice and have a lot of capital, etc. The fact is if you apply to this company in the "growing consulting" practice, they are going to float your resume into their RFPs and proposals before hiring you. If they sell the deal - you're hired. Once that dries up watch out though. If they don't sell the deal, like what happened in my case without me knowing it, "ohhh actually we just ran some numbers and we have have you with a <insert next month> start date". Next month comes if they don't sell the deal(s)... "actually... we just hit some numbers wrong and now we have a <insert next month> start date". If this sounds familiar, just stop now. Find a reputable company to work for instead of Accenture's little you know what. Every interviewer at the D+ level said all they do is use Accenture's IP and decks, go to market and then say they are slightly more niche and building a consulting business. Give me a break. Avanade is the definition of amateur hour. Do your research on the other interviews and people that have worked here. Most of the employees are former Accenture. Its incestual in that regard as well. If you are an entry level; this is probably a decent company to start at because you would get some random experiences. For the experienced advisors; stay clear. I should have listened to the other reviews and the interviewers. Also everyone unanimously said bonuses are horribly don't even consider them if you are bonus "eligible". Just to clarify. They recruit me via multiple media channels, drag me through a multi-month interview process, claim they have an offer coming five times that is slightly more $ than my current role, etc. but never deliver. Luckily I just got a raise for high performance and now make more than what Avanade claims they were going to offer. Best of luck to them and to you; if you interview there.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. One of our core values here at Avanade is acting with integrity and respect, and we use this to guide our behaviors and interactions with others – whether that be clients, colleagues or candidates. And while there are many factors that impact the interview and hiring process - unfortunately there are times where hiring needs do change - in this situation we clearly fell short of acting with integrity and respect in managing your expectations accordingly. I will be addressing this directly with the recruiting team to improve our candidate experience going forward. I wish you well as you continue on your career journey. - Paul Phillips, Global Talent Acquisition lead, p.d.phillips@avanade.com

      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Avanade (London, England) in Jun 2019

      Interview

Best described as what interview process? Senior level hire I had to chase up my own application as it just sat with Avanade not even being processed. After finally getting through to someone they realised I should be interviewed so had a telephone interview and was told I was being put forward to the next stage again more radio silence. Decided at this point that this was a company I didn't want to work for. One of the worst candidate experiences I have ever encountered.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

General telephone interview speaking about my background and experiences that I have managed and how they relate to the current issues Avanade are experiencing.
