      Inside Sales Interview

      25 Jul 2012
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Waltham, MA
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Aveska (Waltham, MA) in Jul 2012

      Interview

The interview experience was parochial at best. The hiring manager came to the interview unprepared and late. I was asked for a copy of my resume and I am pretty sure it was the first time he saw it. We spent most of the interview reviewing my resume, from my college experience through the first 5 years of my work experience. The portions of my professional experience that actually pertained specifically to the position, (i.e. FM/GRC, ERP and Security) weren’t really reviewed at all. The meeting lasted approximately 60 minutes and the last 10-15 minutes consisted of a Q&A session. Some of the questions that I posed were as follows: • Why do you lose deals? • What praise/criticism would your top ranking employees have of you? • What praise/criticism would your lower ranking employees have of you? • Now that you’ve been with the company for a few years now, what advice would you give yourself about transitioning successfully into this company and culture? The questions, I thought would be fairly easy to answer and may require some thought, but I didn’t expect responses to them like “let’s focus on you.” I understand that in business we all have our off days. I also understand that a brand is built one day at a time. However, for this interviewer, I have to say that the experience, from what I’ve read and have been told is a best in class Identity and Access Management Company, was surprisingly underwhelming.
