I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Azavea (Philadelphia, PA) in Apr 2022
Interview
Basic prelim questions about data cleaning and machine learning and coding involving common data science libraries. Not too stressful. Behavioral questions too about past projects and skills. A few people part of the call.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
something about iterating and averaging arrays in a toy problem
The first half consisted of expected interview questions asking about experience, etc. while the second half was a series of highly technical questions about GIS and data, like an oral exam.

Interview
I applied in September. I emailed with HR back and forth for 4 months until I received an email that congratulated me because I was getting a phone screen. Wowie. This really put me off, I thought it was obnoxious but I proceeded. I was interviewed with a poor connection by 2 men who had apparently googled standard quasi-tech interview questions. They asked me if I liked being held accountable. The interview was 19 minutes total. They were sanctimonious and I felt like they had no idea what they were doing, A few days later I received a boilerplate rejection email with zero feedback. Not really a group of people I would like to encounter ever again. They make such a big point about how nice the company is- but if this is the face you want to put forward, acquire some intestinal fortitude and quit the snowflake rage.
