I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at BMC Software (San Jose, CA) in Dec 2015
Interview
Applied thru linkedin and got a call from recruiter to discuss the opening and my experience. Set up a call with the manager of the hiring team. Discussed further about the role and my experience and set up a call for a tech screen and sent an invite for a coding exercise from hackerrank. Phone interview went well, but the person interviewing seemed very dis-interested in the conversation and asked generic questions. Ended the call by saying 'we develop this good product which is used by several clients to do several things'. Got an automated reply a few days later saying they were not moving ahead with this. Recruiter and the Manager seemed enthusiastic and welcoming tho.

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at BMC Software
Interview
First a phone call with recruiter, and then an interview over the phone (not even zoom) for about 40 minutes (hour top) asking about knowledge that I have and projects I developed and languages I knows (even more than has in my CV)
Later I received a mail that I didn't passed, I asked for feedback from both the interviewer and the recruiter at the same time, both us different answers, the interviewer said I don't have enough experience with some of the techs/languages he needs (weird because he has my CV and asked about many other languages) and the recruiter said its because i don't have experience building tools from scratch, which I have, and I told in the interview many times with details about couple of projects I developed from scratch (sometimes even solo)
Really strange
