The Field Engineer event or final selection after passing the virtual interview commenced at 7 am at the company premises, beginning with a company overview and introductions from hiring managers, engineers, and directors. Approximately 16 candidates were present and shared brief introductions alongside a pre-prepared slide. We engaged in four main activities in groups of 5: 1. Rig Construction Challenge: Utilized materials like newspapers, BBQ sticks, and more, emphasizing a first-come, first-serve procurement approach and have the created rig withstand an earthquake or wind storm. 2. Ethical Scenario Discussions: Engaged in hypothetical ethical conundrum, participants chose their stance from four delineated options, with an open forum for advocating their ethical rationale. 3. Technical Skill Assessment: Conducted individual timed evaluations on measuring resistance using specified equipment, decoding resistance color codes, adeptly assembling disassembled (e.g., space shuttle) parts per instructions, dimensioning objects with a caliper and supplementary 2D drawings, and pH measurement competency using pH paper and electronic pH meter. 4. Sales Pitch Simulation: Collaboratively crafting and presenting a persuasive pitch, embodying the role of Baker Hughes field engineers to allure potential candidates towards the organization. The event format may vary, and an interview segment may still be integrated in different settings. Results were emailed 3-5 business days later.
