I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Beautiful.ai
Interview
Pretty standard design interview process, Beautiful.ai started with a recruiter screen and then a 1:1 with the Head of Product and Growth. The second interview was kind of strange because it was more or less a portfolio review minus the ability to show an actual case study or present it. A lot of random "Tell me about a time when..." and highly specific questions about prompt engineering. My takeaway for the role was that they wanted this designer to be a...
1. Product Manager/Owner
2. Staff Level Product Designer
3. Prompt Engineer
...without a clear picture themselves of what this role would actually do, where their responsibilities began/ended, and zero prioritization or internal process. Very little regard given to actual business metrics or product in general beyond execution based "just making things." The expectations for the role also seemed obscene in light of the salary range for it, with designers expected to own and manage all PM work as well.
