The interview process was a three step process. First, I had to interview with a local staffing consulting company to determine if the opportunity was a good fit with my skills. Second, I came back to the staffing company offices on a different day to meet with two managing engineers. This was basically screening for aptitude, personality, and personal interaction. Both managers I met with were very professional and friendly. The third stage of the selection process was to join them down at the physical plant where the job was located. This lasted from 8 AM to the early afternoon. I met with several potential coworkers, took a tour of the plant, and it was a good means to learn more about the company and to see my level of interest. They looked for technical knowledge, problem solving ability, adaptability to change, and positive attitude. Both managers and I discussed the technical issues of steel processing, but they always treated me 100% as a professional. Other companies make applicants fill out multiple choice paper tests or go through redundant rounds of interviews. So Bekaert in Orrville, Ohio has a very positive process that reflects solid management.
