      Sales Development Representative Interview

      30 Sept 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Vancouver, BC
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Bench Accounting (Vancouver, BC) in Sept 2022

      Interview

Applied online, received email from recruiter to schedule a Zoom interview with HR. Interview was just a straight-forward get-to-it approach with HR just reading from a list of standard questions (pretty much 95% behavioural questions). HR did not start out with an introduction about the themselves working at Bench or explaining the role. Made for a very structured interview and didn't leave room for any natural or engaging conversation to actually get to 1) know the candidate or 2) learn more about the role, company culture/dynamic, etc.

Hello, thanks so much for taking the time to write a review. These reviews help me see what we're doing well, and where there are opportunities to improve. We try hard to make sure that candidates have a great experience interviewing with us, and it sounds like we dropped the ball during your interview. I can say - we do usually introduce ourselves before we dive in. - while we don't always 'describe' the role at the beginning of an interview (we're assuming you will have read the job post and understood it before applying) we do usually leave time at the end for your questions so you can ask about the role, culture, etc. Again it sound like we dropped the ball here in your case but as these reviews are anonymous, it's hard for me to comment on the specifics. If you'd be open to it, I'd be happy to discuss this further and you can reach me at jacqui.baillie@bench.co Thanks again for taking the time, Jacqui Baillie | Snr Manager, Recruitment

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Bench Accounting (Vancouver, BC) in Jun 2020

      Interview

I applied online and received an email from a recruiter the following day asking for a zoom interview. The interviewer was very professional and enthusiastic throughout the call and was open and honest when answering my questions. She asked mostly behavioural questions combined with questions directed at my work experience. After a week and a half she got back to me to say that they would not be going forward with my initial application but wanted to offer me an interview for an Account Manager position. She set up a zoom interview between myself and two team leads who were very friendly. This interview lasted for an hour and consisted mainly of behavioural questions mixed in with "get-to-know-you" questions. It was a very positive experience overall! Just over a week after I received a call from the recruiter that they would not be hiring me for the Account Manager position but wanted to offer me an Onboarding Coordinator position. She provided me with feedback as to why I was not being considered for the initial job, but also let me know that Bench wanted me as a part of the team despite not being the perfect fit for that position. I accepted and am excited to start!
