Bending Spoons explicitly states that its preliminary tests are designed to assess cognitive potential and thinking processes, rather than existing role-specific knowledge. In my experience, this was misleading.
The assessment did not feel like a general cognitive test. Had I known that the test would require more specific preparation, I could have approached it differently. Instead, the description gave the impression that no such preparation was necessary and that the test would assess general reasoning alone.
I also found the wording of the questions unnecessarily convoluted. The language and grammar clearly indicated they had been generated by AI rather than written plainly for candidates. Instead of using clear, simple English, some questions were phrased in an overly academic style, which made them harder to interpret than they needed to be. That added an extra layer of confusion that had little to do with assessing cognitive potential.
Overall, I found the assessment experience disappointing. In my view, the test was not presented as transparently as it could have been, and the description did not accurately reflect what was needed. If I had not been mislead, this test would have been easy.
