I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Berenberg Bank in May 2020
Interview
Normal application process, followed by telephone interview. This is where the problem arose. After waiting an hour for the scheduled timeslot, no phone call had come through. Emailed HR about it and didn't get a reply. Luckily they had slots available the further week, same situation again, scheduled the interview for 16:00-16:15, again no call had come through. Terribly unprofessional.
I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Berenberg Bank (London, England) in Jan 2023
Interview
Short and sweet 2-round process: HR Call -> Assessment center. Quite relaxed, everyone was super friendly and accommodating. Jovial and energetic HR team readily available throughout the process. Initial HR call was fairly straightforward (talk about CV/projects and some behavioural questions). Assessment center lasted for a day on-site, was a mix of technical and non-technical (behavioural) interviews. Very relaxed.

Interview
Highly unprofessional. Submitted online application with CV and after passing this stage was invited to a telephone interview one month later. Scheduled an interview one week in advance but wasn’t phoned during the chosen time slot. I emailed HR at the end of the time slot, and half an hour later I got an email saying they hadn’t been able to contact me (but they didn’t bother to email me and let me know either). They ask me at what time I would be available 3 days after, and after telling them they didn’t contact me that day either. I had to email them again, and without any explanation they asked what time I was available the following week. Again, they didn’t call at the scheduled time and said if I “wanted to continue with the process”. I told them I was available the following day, and they finally contacted me but without even telling me the time (considering this was the 4th time I had scheduled.) On top of this, the interviewer didn’t apologise and seemed very uninterested in what I was saying. 3 weeks later they emailed late in the evening saying I had passed that stage and asking for my CV by 8am the next day – which I had already provided at the start, and they rejected me on this basis. What a waste of time. I wouldn’t want to work for a company that treats employees so badly.
