Long Process! You have to be serious about This Career!!!
First: Pick up application from City of Macon HR Department
Secondly: Fill out applications (Make sure you put all work history-do not leave anything blank) and take it back to HR. Be prepared to write a short essay on why you want to be a police officer when you turn in application. They will then give you form to take to CGT to complete compass test ( if you have the test scores already like I did they will schedule for your physical agility test)
Third: You take physical agility test- run quarter of a mile, jump over 3 ft fence, go under wooden beam, jump through window, and carry 150 Ib dummy 10 ft. Not bad at all!
Forth: Interview with civil board (it take at least a month to get interview...so don't panic if you don't get a call right away). I would suggest to reach out to a Bibb County recruiter. They can help you prepare for interview. They will ask you scenario questions be prepared!
Fifth: You will get called from Internal Affairs(IA) Personal. You will have to give 6 character references, sign document, give your social media information(that is why you have to be careful what you put on internet). They will also give you your polygraph packet
Sixth: You will get a call from an investigator from IA. They will call your references and employers. They will scout out where you live (former residences) and speak to your neighbors. They run good background. If you every called police ever to report anything. They have that info and they will ask you about it. You will also have a formal interview with them.
Seventh: You will get a call to schedule your polygraph exam. Don't freak out if you fail. As long as you were honest you are good.
Eighth: Interview with Sheriff (My interview is still Pending). Hope I get the Job
