      Junior Software Engineer Interview

      30 Oct 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Berlin
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Blindfeed (Berlin) in Oct 2018

      Interview

The craziest interviewing process in which I participated. The whole process had eight steps, but I only participated in the first two. The company had just opened five weeks ago and the CTO believed he was a God. After the first interview, that took more than one hour, he sent me a theoretical test with stupid questions.

      Interview

This has to be the best interview I had ever taken, it was in-depth and they really took time to not only get to know what skills I posses and how I could help technically but they were also interested in who I was as a person and introduced me to the team step by step. The entire process had about 5 steps. - First I met the CTO and we had a rather informal chat, he asked me a few technical questions and I provided some answers, what I liked about the CTO was how friendly and welcoming he was, he spoke to me not as an employee but it felt more like a conversation I would have with any other tech enthusiast I would meet at a dev conference, humility was in the air. - Step 2, was a set of theoretical questions, I think I had about two hours to complete them, they were standard questions about algorithms and personality as well. The most important thing I got from this step was that skill is important but we also want to know you and what you are interested in. -Step 3, was a meeting with the CEO, who again was a very humble and down to earth guy, he was also interested in personality, he asked a lot of questions about how I would deal with certain problems should they arise and what type of working environment I would like to be in and create for the rest of the team, a very humble gentleman, I was very nervous in the beginning but he made me comfortable by the way he spoke to me. - Step 4, I met the rest of the team, this was great because I got to see who I might be working with should I get the job, it was a good chat and everyone told me what they do, this helped me get a perspective of the importance of everyone's role in the team and helped me understand why the interviews were so concerned with personality, everyone in the team was passionate about what they do respectively, like really passionate, they all had their differences and didn't see everything the same but everyone respected everyone's domain. Overall I enjoyed the interview process, it was a bit long and and some of the questions seemed a little mundane or out of scope but in the end I understood why it had to be like that, plus the people were extremely friendly and open to hearing what I had to say.
