I went through the interview process for the Digital Marketing Project Manager role. It started with a short 15-minute screening interview, followed by a work-from-home assignment where I was given access to their live Google Analytics accounts. After that, I had an in-person interview in Ottawa that lasted about an hour.
The process was well-structured, and the team members I met were all very nice and kind. They emphasized the fast-paced environment, which I felt confident I could manage — at the right level of compensation.
Ultimately, I turned down the offer. The package was $70K with no health benefits and without a clear outline on the benefits structure, which is below the market average for this type of role in Ottawa (Digital Marketing Project Manager, with an average of CA$74K and CA$95K in Ottawa). While the role itself seemed interesting and the people seemed great, the pay and lack of benefits were not aligned with my expectations. It also seemed to be a family-run business, and one of the interview questions was about how I deal with difficult individuals, which felt like a bit of a red flag.
