I interviewed at Blue Light Card

      Interview

I was interested in Blue Light Card because of the values they project publicly, but my interview experience was a major letdown. During the second stage, one of the interviewers was notably cold and even made dismissive/rude facial expressions at several points during my answers. It was incredibly off putting and created an environment that felt more like an interrogation than a professional conversation. This behavior felt completely at odds with the "supportive and people first" culture the company claims to have. To make matters worse, when I was eventually rejected, the recruiter specifically promised that feedback would be provided. I responded saying I would be open to receiving it at their earliest convenience, but I never heard another word. If a company prides itself on supporting those who serve the community, they should start by showing basic respect and professional courtesy to the people interviewing to join them. Being "too busy" isn't an excuse for being unwelcoming in a meeting or discarding a promise of feedback.

Thank you for taking the time to share this. From what you’ve described, the interview experience and the lack of follow-up clearly missed the mark, and that’s not what we want for candidates. We're really sorry to hear how the interview felt. The behaviours you’ve called out aren’t how we expect our teams to show up. Interviews should feel like a proper two-way conversation, not an interrogation. On the feedback piece, you’re right. If we say we’ll come back with feedback, we should do that and we didn’t here. We care about getting this right, and experiences like this don’t reflect where we want to be. We’re already pushing to improve how we run interviews, and this is exactly the kind of feedback we need to keep raising the bar. Wishing you all the best in your search. Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Blue Light Card (London, England) in Mar 2026

      Interview

I had a genuinely awful interview experience with Blue Light Card. The process started well enough. I had two interviews in quick succession, both of which went well, and the recruiter told me the company typically moved quickly. Up to that point, my experience reflected that. Unfortunately, things quickly deteriorated after that. It then took roughly two weeks for the company to send over the task and organise the third-stage interview. After such a fast and smooth start, the sudden slowdown felt disorganised and inconsistent. I gave the benefit of the doubt and carried on regardless. The third-stage interview was held in person at the London office, but only one of the three interviewers who were supposed to attend actually showed up. Again, I found this strange and unprofessional, but decided to continue and make the best of it. I spent several hours preparing the task and presenting it in person, and I felt the interview itself went well. After that, I waited to hear back regarding next steps. I never did. Despite the amount of time and effort I invested in the process, I was never given a clear yes or no. The recruiter — who had previously been in regular contact with Blue Light Card — told me he also hadn’t heard anything back. Eventually, I stopped following up because the silence itself became the answer. Being ghosted after multiple interview stages and a presentation task is incredibly disrespectful to candidates’ time and effort. Sadly, this isn’t the first time I’ve experienced poor communication during a hiring process, but this was by far the worst example of it. Regardless of the outcome, candidates deserve basic professionalism and closure. Blue Light Card seriously needs to do better.
