I had an initial 30 minute interview with the Talent Acquisition team for a Delivery Lead role. Unfortunately, the discussion was not strongly aligned to the role itself, with limited focus on relevant experience, delivery capability or core skills.
Questions were quite general or unrelated (e.g. personal reflections from travel and reasons for tenure in previous roles), despite my resume clearly outlining progression into more senior positions. It would have been helpful to have a more structured conversation focused on delivery experience and role expectations.
When I asked about the key skills required to contribute effectively in the role, the interviewer was unable to provide clear detail during the conversation and mentioned they would follow up with additional information. A more detailed document was shared afterward, which was helpful, although it appeared to be an internal document.
I was advised I would hear back within a few days, but did not receive a response. I followed up after one week and did not hear back.
Overall, the process felt unstructured. Improvements in interviewer preparation, alignment of questions to the role and clearer communication with candidates would enhance the experience.
