I want to give my experience a one star, but I'll throw in an extra star due to the courtesy of the director of operations.
The whole process took about 2 months. I went through 4 interviews and designed four, detailed marketing samples specific to the account at the request of their administrative rep. While I was informed that the interview process was expected to be long, what I didn't expect was that they simply had no clue what they were doing, or who they wanted for this position after already requesting so much of me.
The administrative rep made comments during contact which suggested she was prepared to move forward with an offer, that I should hear back at the end of the day after my finial interview. I was sent something along the lines of "hang tight, thanks so much we'll go over notes and get back to you soon". Four days go by until the director of operations emails me instead to let me know they're considering other candidates at this time. More than one week later I get an email from the director of operations again telling me they will "keep me in mind for the future" and that they decided to go with a candidate with more experience than myself.
I have zero problem with another candidate more qualified than myself filling this role, I get it. However, I am sorely disappointed at the unprofessionalism to state on the first interview that you specifically wanted a younger candidate that can grow and shape with the position, never once discuss compensation or a salary range, lead someone into thinking they will receive an offer, exploit them for their work (which they said they loved), to then decide you want something else entirely? Not okay. This account needs to consider outsourcing for their recruitment process.
I may have wasted two months of my life but at least I know better now to discuss compensation prior to providing detailed marketing samples.
