I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at British Airways (London, England) in Jun 2017

      Interview

My interview at British Airways was probably one of the most enjoyable and relaxed interviews I have ever had and I thoroughly enjoyed the entire day. At the beginning of the day, we went through the security checks. They just checked our documents we were asked to bring. I brought my Passport, Driving License, National Insurance Card and a bank statement. After this, we did the height and reach tests. We had to reach up to an item in an overhead locker, and then hold a vertical bar with your right hand then reach down to touch a red tag which is on the floor. I thought I would get sent home at this point as I am 5,4" and my hand ever so slightly came of the vertical bar but they were OK with that. Following this stage, a number of us went to do some group tasks and the others went to do some role play. I did the group task first. There was 6 of us and we had a budget and had to figure out the best way to spend it. You're being observed by 4/5 examiners. They are wanting to see how well you interact with other people, so make sure you don't speak over people, include people who may be a little quiet but make sure you're heard when you speak. It's actually quite fun, so you'll enjoy this part! After this, I went to do the role play. You are given 2 minutes to familiarise yourself with an 'announcement' and then you have to stand up and read it out loud. Just speak as clear as you can, take your time and do not rush. You are allowed to star over once if you need it. Next, the examiner will act like an angry/unhappy passenger. All you have to do is make sure you leave the passenger happy and satisfied with the outcome. They don't expect you to know the workings of BA and what is the correct method, they just want to see that you have excellent customer service skills and you empathise with the passenger. We sat around for a while whilst they all deliberated. I was the first one to complete both the group task and role play so I felt like I was sat there for ages! & I was so nervous, I really thought that I would be getting sent home. Once stage 1 is over, they send people home. There was 45 people at the assessment day and only 11 got through to the interview stage which was 2:1. I was looking forward to the interview part as I had really prepared for this. I'd researched all the questions that they ask, so make sure you have your examples ready because that's what they are looking for. Just be you, they want to see your personality come through. Try to talk to as many people as possible throughout the day, they want to see you interact with one another. They told us at the start of the day that they had enough positions for everyone so not to think of people as competition, just potential new work colleagues which made everyone more relaxed. Good luck!

      Interview

A long day, but assessors helped us feel at ease throught the process. The two interviewers had different styles which helped the interview flow. The wait for an offer was the most nerve-racking part.
