I applied online. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at British Antarctic Survey (Cambridge, England) in Mar 2020
Interview
Initial application was 4 or 5 pages to fill in and email to HR along with CV and cover letter. Waited months before hearing back, actually past the deadline which made me assume I was unsuccessful. They got in touch to offer a Zoom interview. Very basic interview and didn't feel like they asked much to show I was capable of the job. Next stage was a practical assessment and a medical, I got told about these 2 days before. Not a huge amount of communication from the recruiting team overall and I felt like they didn't really focus on the job.

I applied online. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at British Antarctic Survey in Mar 2020
Interview
Fairly standard interview process. Started with a video interview with 3 of the team. Got asked fairly standard questions and then a few boating related. Got shown a chart and asked to explain some things about it. Interview lasted probably around 45 minutes to an hour but a lot of the questions were repeated, it all felt a little weird and off putting. A lot of focus on communication as you'd imagine with being such a remote amd possibly dangerous working environment.
Next stage was a medical in Cambridge and boating practical assessment in Poole. Both were absolutely fine and nothing that you wouldn't expect. Boating assessed had a big emphasis on instructing and being able to give clear and concise instructions and demonstrations to students.
Waited a considerable time before hearing back which was very off putting for me. They focused so heavily on communication during the interview process but were actually pretty bad at communicating throughout.
