I applied through university. I interviewed at Bucknell University in Jan 2026
Interview
I got the first round panel with two team members. Mainly about resume projects and the information in your cover letter. The process is positive but I haven't got feedback till now.
The interview process was straightforward and fairly informal. After submitting my application, I was contacted by the aquatics director for a short in-person interview. They asked about my previous lifeguarding experience, CPR/first aid certifications, and availability. The questions were mostly scenario-based (e.g., how you would handle a distressed swimmer or enforce pool rules). It was more of a conversation than a formal interview, and they seemed focused on making sure you were reliable, certified, and comfortable enforcing safety procedures. Once my certifications were verified, I was offered the job shortly after.

They asked, “How would you handle a situation where someone refuses to follow the pool rules?” It seemed like they wanted to make sure I could stay calm, be assertive, and prioritize safety without escalating the situation.
Intense. Bucknell has four-hour-long interviews where candidates will meet with a variety of people and teams. You get a good sense of the priorities of the role and the key stakeholders you will be working with.
