They ask questions about yourself. Then they ask for you to describe your experiences and how it relates to the role. They ask why you will be a good fit for the company.
I had an initial phone screen then did not bother waiting for next steps. The recruiter has no interest in a positive candidate experience. I was a valid candidate (I was not rejected) and recruiter responses took days, sometimes even a week just to schedule and then reschedule meetings with the hiring manager which eventually never materialized.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Built Technologies
Interview
Went through two different interviews for two different postions. First interview started out with an introductory phone call, then a take home code challenge & a code review with one of the managers. That experience was great because the engineering manager was very kind and helpful during the code review. After that, had an interview with several Engineers from various teams, and finally an upper management interview. My first experience interviewing was so-so. Everyone was very nice, but it seemed a bit disorganized as I never could figure out who was my main point of contact for the process.
That role didn't work out, but I was contacted a month or so later for another position that was open. Had a great chat with management, was sent a code challenge. After I submitted it, I was told they were going to set up the next interview but I never received an invite. I followed up after that a couple of times to make sure the email didn't get lost somehow, but they never responded. I was pretty confused as to what happened. I feel like a rejection would have been more helpful rather than being left hanging.
Overall, while everyone was very kind, the process seemed disorganized compared to other places I have interviewed with. Being ghosted was pretty disappointing. Wish it worked out, because they are working on some pretty interesting projects!
Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed the people you met with and the code pairing exercise. However, we're sad to hear that we didn't live up to our goal of timely communication and consistent follow-up throughout your process. We really appreciate the time you've invested in getting to know us and would like the opportunity to reconnect. If you're open to it, please email careers@getbuilt.com and we'll get back to you.
