I normally don't write reviews, but I am furious at this company. I spent three days on a long, unpaid writing assignment for a remote role. The editor who initially contacted me didn't even write back after I submitted the test to her, but instead, I got a generic email from their hiring system saying, "Thank you for your edit test. Our team will now review it and be in touch with next steps if we'd like to move forward. If you don't hear from us in 3-4 weeks, please feel free to follow up!" First of all, if you are an editor, I understand you are busy. But if a professional writer takes the time to complete an unpaid assignment, you need to write them back and thank them for their time. I then had to follow-up with her a week later, and got this response, " Thank you so much for your interest and effort in the application process. Unfortunately, we have made the decision to not move forward at this time." I had several experienced editors look over my test and know that I did a great job on the assignment, so I'm sure they already planned to hire someone else. Very frustrating. Don't bother applying.

Initial phone interview was fine, then was asked to complete a small writing sample of a paragraph. Made it past that stage and was asked to do a three hour unpaid writing trial. We would pay you if we could they said, yeah right. After waiting two full weeks I was then given a Dear John email about too many applicants. I felt that given the amount of time that I spent, especially with THREE hour UNPAID working interview, I should have at least been given a personalized rejection letter. I responded that I was disappointed in not being chosen but that I also would have expected a little more in return and got no answer.
