I walked in wearing business attire. I spoke with the receptionist who handed me an application packet. I filled it out. She then referred me to the sales manager. He asked me to wait. I waited for about thirty minutes. He asked me some general questions about my intentions to fill the position and about the contents of my resume. He explained that even though my resume was well versed, i hadn't sold anything. He then asked two key questions. First, "How do you handle rejection"? I responded that "rejection is a part of everyday life, and that i handle it well...just ask my ex-girlfriends". He then asked, "without retail experience, what makes you think you can sell cars"? I explained that i was a natural and that i could tell that i was selling him "myself" right then...he laughed. He told me to come in the next day. I came in. I was given a brief introduction to what my daily responsibilities were, and then i was sent to the general manager. He asked various questions, and most importantly, he asked the same two questions the sales manager had asked. I can't remember what i responded to him with, but he told me that i should give sales a shot, and that he liked me. I was instructed to go take a drug test and do a telephone interview with a hiring agency, (just to verify my resume). I called when i was finished and i started work the next day.
