Did a phone call with recruiter, and then a phone interview with hiring manager. Went well and was invited for an in person meeting immediately. Made arrangements to cut into an already planned vacation to travel.
Spent half a day doing round robin interviews with key people, but the bathrooms broke and they had to cut the interview short - bizarre to say the least. I was summarily shown the door with little more than a handshake. This after traveling over 200 miles each way.
After a week I politely asked for some feedback and if I could get reimbursed for my expenses. These requests were ignored and then after reaching out again received the perfunctory "more qualified candidates email" - you would think that at a certain level, as a candidate you would get more than the generic kiss off, but I think that tells you a lot about a company and how they would have treated you as an employee.
I've interviewed/hired dozens of candidates over my career and when asked for feedback, I have never hesitated in explaining to someone why they were not given further consideration. If you can't handle that part of the job, how can you manage the day to day?
