      Software Engineer Interview

      25 Sept 2012
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Chennai
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Capgemini (Chennai) in Aug 2012

      Interview

It was a off campus interview in a reputed college. Our details were shared by our college to cocubes website and we initially applied for job and generated a hall ticket for 4th august 2012. Our scheduled time for taking Round 1:Aptitude test was 12:30, but due to some technical problems we had it only on 2:00 pm and in the online test there were 3 sections each having 25 questions. Section 1: English Section 2: Programming Section 3: Numerical + Logical reasoning -each question carries 1 mark with a negative marking of 0.25. so we have to be really careful in our choice of attending questions and i attended 60/75. The results were declared and i along with 15 of my batch mates got selected and we were waiting for Round 2:Group Discussion, and we were split to 3 groups and our group got GD topic as "Is social media, a boon or a ban?" and they told to take a positive or negative stand and give equal chance for our fellow speakers to speak. I spoke about the ill effects of social media etc and how they have distanced ourselves from our fellow people and made an addict to themselves.I highlighted security concerns caused because of status updates, confession of Mark Zuckerberg, the looming danger of cyber crime in social media and also the lack of attention towards some good social media such as Linked In and so on... 4 of my GD mates were selected for Round 3:Personal interview. Before that we were asked to submit our resume, photos(if not id proof) to the interview panel. Then they called us one by one to the interview room. And when my turn came i was waiting outside the interview room for the previous candidate to come out and when he came out i thought someone would send me in and to my surprise the interviewer himself came and asked me to join him. It was like a general HR interview with questions like TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELF etc and some questions about college projects, why did u join that college, what is the edge IT background students are having over other stream students and so on. Finally the interviewer was very kind enough to tell me that he was satisfied with my performance in the interview but he need to consult with other recruiting panel members and he told if i am selected i will be intimated through mail or sms. HURRAH i really had a very good outing in my first offcampus interview!!!
