I applied online. I interviewed at Capita (Leeds, England)
Interview
I applied for the position of Senior Project Manager at Capita. The interview process consisted of two stages: an informal chat and a formal competency-based interview. The informal chat was with one of the Programme Directors, where the chat lasted for about 30 minutes and was mainly focused on my background, skills, and motivation for applying to the company. The Programme Director also asked me some basic questions about project management, such as the difference between agile and waterfall methodologies, how to handle risks and issues, and what tools and techniques I use to plan and monitor projects. The formal competency-based interview was with a panel of 2 programme managers. The interview lasted for about an hour and was conducted via MS Teams. The interviewers asked me several questions related to the core competencies required for the role, such as communication, leadership, problem-solving, and teamwork. They also gave me a case study based on a real project that the company had delivered for a client. The case study involved analysing the project scope, objectives, deliverables, stakeholders, budget, timeline, and risks. I had 15 minutes to read the case study and prepare my findings, and then I had to present them and answer their follow-up questions. The interview process was challenging but rewarding, as it gave me an opportunity to showcase my skills and experience in project management. I also learned more about the company’s culture, values, and vision. I received positive feedback from both stages of the interview and was offered the job shortly after.
