I applied online. I interviewed at CarMax (Sterling, VA) in Sept 2020
Interview
I applied online and less than 1 week later I was contacted to schedule a telephone interview. On the day of the interview around 30 minutes prior it was pushed back by 1 hour. The phone interview was standard and lasted around 30 minutes. At the end I was scheduled to have an in person interview. The in person interview was also pushed back by 1 day less than 24 hours prior. I arrived for the interview around 10 minutes early and was left waiting in the middle of the room for nearly 20 minutes while the interviewers finished lunch, thankfully they were showing HGTV. This in person interview was with 2 people and was much more formal and the questions were behavioral in nature and are asked in star format, which was slightly confusing because I felt like I was being asked 5 questions at once. As a career switcher the interview was pretty awkward because one of the interviewers openly expressed that he did not like the industry overall. I felt like I was being interviewed by Paula and Simon on American idol. At the end of the interview the 2 interviewers went outside and deliberated for a few minutes. Once they re-entered they informed me they would to need to interview more people. Obviously at that time was sure that I was rejected because I was told to bring ID and that the process would take 2 hours and they never asked to see them and the interview was around 30 minutes. I assume if you get the job you will do some paperwork. I was emailed about 1 week later that informed me that I was not selected.

Question 1
Name a situation where you had to work in a team to complete a goal?
The interview process was pretty simple compared to many companies. After the initial interview with the business officer manager, I had one additional interview with additional managers from the store.
I applied through other source. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at CarMax (Hillside, IL) in Feb 2025

You are first contacted for a phone interview, then if they like you, you will have an in person meeting with another manager. If all goes well you will hear back for the final step, which is orientation.

There are 3 interviews to be completed individually with 3 different supervisors. If you make it passed those three, you are offered the job the same day. They are pretty much basic interview questions relating to customer service.
