      Powertrain Development Engineer Interview

      27 Jan 2010
      Anonymous employee
      Peoria, IL
      Accepted offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Caterpillar (Peoria, IL) in Jan 2008

      Interview

I lived in the area, otherwise CAT will put you up in a decent hotel the evening before hand. You will have an interview host (A CAT employee, who works in a job similar to yours, and has gone through interview host training) who will show you around the area and take you out to dinner that evening. They use STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) interviewing method. I had 3 one hour interviews with three different CAT employees (In my case engineers and engineering managers) spread throughout the entire day. The interview host will also buy you lunch the day of your interview as well.

      Interview questions [2]

      Question 1

Describe a time when you had to do extra work and not receive anything back in return for your efforts.

      Question 2

Name a time when you put safety as first priority and did not get a job done in time because of it.
