I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Centene (Chicago, IL) in Apr 2014
Interview
The interview process is very lengthy if hired, you may meet with the department manager, supervisor and director all in one setting. Your manager sometimes maybe offsite in a different state if your team is national you'll have to learn how to be a self-starter and highly motivated if there's the occurs.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell us about a time when you had to deal with a difficult member, and how did you handle the situation.
My interview with Centene left me feeling disappointed and discouraged. The interviewers were clearly on a time crunch and seemed disengaged throughout. Their tone was rushed and impersonal, and they showed little interest in getting to know me as a candidate.
All of the questions were negative in nature—things like “Tell me about a time you disagreed with a policy rollout” or “Tell me about a time you didn’t get along with a team member.” There were no opportunities to highlight my strengths, accomplishments, or what I could bring to the role. It felt more like an interrogation than a conversation.
When I asked about the team culture, I was told there really wasn’t one. The lack of energy and enthusiasm from the interviewers made it hard not to wonder if the work environment had taken a toll on them. What started as an exciting opportunity quickly became a red flag.
