I applied to Chargebee in January 2022 and got a call shortly after. I started my interview journey with them and attended 3-4 rounds of technical interviews. All of it was fine till this stage. Engineering team kind of liked my candidature and was confident that I was good fit for them.
However things started moving south after I attended cultural fit round with one of the engineering managers. I dont know what went wrong in that round but it seems that the interviewer made his mind after only hearing about couple of my answers. I later came to know that my feedback about cultural fit round had a red flag because i asked this question after the interview was over "what is the difference between engineering manager role and program manager role". I seriously dont understand how this can be flagged as red!
Anyways my horror didnt end, I had to follow up with HR for 2.5 months on the outcome of my candidature and I didnt get any reply. I must have called 20-30 times to HR, dropped 10-20 emails, I even called hiring manager after searching him on Linkedln but I didnt get any response.
After 2.5 months they said that they are going to take 1 more interview with another team after giving very lame excuses about the previous interview. I thought maybe I should give them another chance and guess what happened! same thing repeated again, I finished the interview round with another team and bam HR vanished again. No reply, no communication nothing! I left it at this point in time.
My only advice to the team is to maintain very open communication with the candidate at every stage of the interview. It does not bode well for the company to invest so many resources on hiring and squandering everything but not communicating effectively.
