      Executive Assistant Interview

      24 Aug 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Austin, TX
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Charles Schwab (Austin, TX) in Aug 2020

      Interview

Had a great conversation with the recruiter, she was wonderful and really sold the position and the executive that needed support. I was very excited to have the opportunity to work with the executive. My first and only formal interview was with two assistants. Not sure if they were playing good cop or bad cop but one of the interviewers was truly horrendous. She kept checking her watch from the minute we began talking. As the interview went on it was very clear she wasn’t paying attention and had not looked at my resume before the interview. When she finally did look at my resume she mentioned mid-interview that she previously worked for a company under the same parent company that I was currently employed by. Excited that we may have common ground, I asked her which one as maybe we’ve crossed paths. She then became defensive and said she didn’t feel like saying which one. I said alright and moved on to another topic but after that moment it was if she harbored animosity towards me because I worked at a company she had a bad experience with. It was actually laughable how rude she was in the interview. The other interviewer was polite and professional. After the interview ended I thought to myself that it was the most bizarre turn of an interview I’d ever experienced. Frankly, I didn’t foresee getting an offer after the interview and I was turned off by the position if it meant dealing with that particular assistant again as she couldn’t seem to discern a person from a company on their resume. I don’t think the company, the recruiter and the other assistant who interviewed me should judged by one of their employees/coworkers so I’ll rate the interview process as neutral.

      Executive Assistant Interview

      10 Jun 2013
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Charles Schwab (San Francisco, CA)

      Interview

The position came to my attention as a referral from a colleague who had worked a Charles Schwab. She put me in contact with her friend who in turn put me in contact with the hiring manager. I had a phone interview with HR which went very well. She was very nice and asked basic questions about my work history and my style of organization. After the interview was complete I was schedule to have another phone interview with a manager within the department. He was out of San Diego but worked closely with the San Francisco office. It lasted about 45 minutes. He was also very nice. Third I was scheduled to have a panel interview with the two EVP's that I would be supporting and their current assistant. This lasted about 3 hours. All of the questions were about my history and also what if's. They wanted to know how I would work with others and what I would do if someone tried to "pull rank" to go against the directors' wishes. Overall everyone was very nice and it was an enjoyable process.
