      Operations Associate Interview

      29 Jan 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at CharlieHR (London, England) in Jan 2022

      Interview

The process was well planned out and some really great selection practices were used. They provided an overview of the full process and breakdown of each stage. Questions were okay, standard and expected. First stage was a short phone call, followed by a video interview, then a "technical assessment" and finally a set of interviews with some of the team and Ben (CEO). It all went great and I progressed through the stages, everyone was really nice and engaging until the very last interview with CEO who rushed what was supposed to be a 30 min interview to 15 minutes and appeared not to care at all, with no follow-up questions and very apathetic approach it felt like this was a checkbox exercise for him. It was all crowned with an absurd rejection, saying that I was unsuccessful and that they did not hire anyone as due to internal discussions they decided to change the job spec. This means that I did not show the skills and traits they are now looking for (rather hard when you do not know about it and they don't ask any questions relating to it). So instead of extending the process with additional questions they just rejected me, while I am fine with not being successful, I did not receive any meaningful feedback, just that I was good overall but they changed their mind on what they are looking for and apologised for not sharing that. I challenged the decision and asked why not arrange a follow up interview to ask the questions that could help us better understand if the fit is there and possibly provide with real feedback if it is not there. Keep in mind one of their "values" is challenging ideas and so on... The answer was both hilarious and disappointing as they felt that their questions were good enough to cover what they are looking for (asking about admin skills while looking for great communication?!). Offered me a monetary compensation for my time, which is also absurd as all I wanted was feedback to help improve. In conclusion while it looked promising, this interview was an absolute waste of time, it showed that the company is all about flashy statements that do not apply internally and made me feel happy I did not get the job, but very upset I invested so much time and effort into this. Seems to be on par to others experiences on here.
